Mixtape #34

We have never been shy about our love for Portland based outfit AU, whose album Both Lights was an absolute favourite of ours in 2012. So it's with a wide grin that we unwrap this month's mixtape, straight from AU's prodigious mastermind Luke Wyland, who takes us on a wild perusal of his music collection, from his latest findings to his old time favourites.

AU’s ‘Solid Gold’ remixed by Deerhoof

Here at Cast the Dice we don’t really fish for remixes. But every now and then an exceptional one gets trapped in our nets.
And that is the case with ‘Solid Gold’, the very first single taken from AU‘s third album Both Lights, which just received the remix treatment from Deerhoof.
AU will be releasing it on a limited edition split 7″ with fellow Portland residents Pure Bathing Culture.
And whilst we wait for it to drop, check out the original track here and enjoy the Deerhoof remix below.

AU drop kaleidoscopic visuals for ‘OJ’

One of my favourite albums released this year is Both Lights by Portland based experimental pop rockers AU. The album came out earlier this month via Hometapes (US) and The Leaf Label (UK) and the outfit led by multi-instrumentalist Luke Wyland and drummer Dana Valatka have been touring it all over Europe for the last month.
After releasing two jaw-dropping singles, ‘Solid Gold’ and ‘Get Alive’, another track from the album sees the light, ‘OJ’. The track comes with tripped-out colourful visuals fittingly urging anyone to dance.

Get alive with AU’s new single

AU - Get Alive

Back in December, Portland, Oregon experimental rockers AU dropped the first jaw-dropping single ‘Solid Gold’ from their highly anticipated upcoming third album Both Lights.
The outfit lead by multi-instrumentalist Luke Wyland and drummer Dana Valatka shared yesterday the second single ‘Get Alive’, another incredible track which is free to download via The Leaf Label soundcloud. As with the first single, the track features the arresting vocals of Holland Andrews.

AU are now touring the US with stops in SXSW and they’ll head to Europe in April. Check all the dates and tickets info here.

Both Lights will hit stores on April 2nd in the UK via The Leaf Label and a day later in the US via Hometapes.

It’s now time to ‘Get Alive’.
