With the release of his upcoming third album Pagodes fast approaching, Jono McCleery has shared a third single off it, the marvellous and enveloping ‘This Idea Of Us’. We had already heard and loved two tracks from the album, ‘Age of Self’ and ‘Clarity’. ‘This Idea Of Us’ is another jewel within an album of gems.

Pagodes is out on October 2nd via If Music.

Jono McCleery previews new song from upcoming album Pagodes

Jono McCleery - Pagodes

Pagodes, the much anticipated third full-length album from Jono McCleery, is coming out this Autumn. The Rotterdam based British singer-songwriter has already enticed us with the beautiful first single ‘Age of Self’. McCleery is offering another magnificent taste from the album called ‘Clarity’. Here’s what he said about it:

“As with most of the songs on Pagodes, Clarity was an attempt to write a song that stood against the themes of winning, possessing, consuming, etc. and present an idea that if we could strip ourselves from all these ego-driven pursuits (and perhaps of our clothes too) and see what’s left with someone special, that our time would be better spent.

It’s ultimately about seizing the moment, listening to your heart, removing yourself from negative influence, immersing yourself in love, and finding clarity. But also acknowledging the idea that clarity is not something you just flat out achieve or possess, you just get closer to it sometimes. ‘The clarity is closer’.”

Lend your ears to ‘Clarity’ now and be sure to grab Pagodes when it’s out on October 2nd via If Music.

Jono McCleery returns with third album Pagodes

Jono McCleery - Pagodes

We’re thrilled to know there is a brand new full-length album on the way from the immensely talented singer-songwriter Jono McCleery. Entitled Pagodes, it follows his majestic and widely acclaimed 2011’s There Is and it arrives on October 2nd via If Music.
His marvellous guitar playing and soulful and powerful singing shine even stronger in Pagodes. As the press release describes, “it’s an album that’s difficult to turn away from, full of beautiful melody, futuristic production flourishes and lyrics that don’t shy away from darkness, but always alight on uplifting conclusion.”.

We’re itchy with anticipation for the album to drop but we can already wrap our ears around the first single, an utterly beautiful interpretation of Robert Wyatt’s ‘Age of Self’. Here it is.

In other related news, Jono McCleery will celebrate the album release with a performance in London at Elektrowerkz on October 13th.
