French collective Oiseaux-Tempête have shared a live video for ‘Tuesday And The Weather Is Clear’, lifted from the recently released Tarab طَرَبٌ, an album recorded entirely live while the band toured their previous record AL-‘AN ! الآن in Europe and Canada. The video offers an astonishing glimpse into their poignant and intense live shows, and is directed by French duo As Human Pattern (aka Grégoire Orio & Grégoire Couvert). Watch it below.

As they prepare for the release of their new live album TARAB, French outfit Oiseaux-Tempête have shared ‘Palindrome Series’, another staggering single from the record, following two previously shared cuts, ‘Tuesday, And The Weather Is Clear‘ feat. G.W Sok and ‘Carnaval‘. Deftly melding genres and influences aplenty, as well as elements of improvisation, the mighty and majestic ‘Palindrome Series’ takes a myriad of sonic twists and turns throughout its 10m55s. Following last year’s utterly sublime AL-‘AN ! الآن, which was one of our Album Picks of the Year, Oiseaux-Tempête will be gifting the world with a new live album, TARAB. Recorded entirely live while the band toured AL-‘AN ! الآن in Europe and Canada, TARAB encapsulates the free improvised spirit that permeates their live shows, and the multitude of genres they explore, from free-rock and free-jazz to electronica and Arabic music. The album, “far beyond the vibrant testimony”, says the press release, “is a generous invitation to experience, to meditate and to share”.
Founding members Frédéric D. Oberland and Stéphane Pigneul created TARAB with longtime collaborators Mondkopf, Sylvain Joasson, G.W.Sok, As Human Pattern and Lebanese musicians Charbel Haber, Abed Kobeissy and Ali El Hout. Set for release on June 15th through Sub Rosa, Oiseaux-Tempête’s upcoming album also comes with a special bonus track featuring Jerusalem In My Heart’s Radwan Ghazi Moumneh.

Back in April Oiseaux-Tempête released one of our favourite albums this year, AL-‘AN ! الآن (And your night is your shadow — a fairy-tale piece of land to make our dreams). Following a recent European tour including a tremendous show at Le Guess Who?, Oiseaux-Tempête are set to play in Canada for the first time this week, with Jerusalem In My Heart and Suuns. They play Montreal’s La Sala Rossa this Thursday 23th and Toronto’s The Great Hall the day after.

Oberland and Stéphane Pigneul, released AL-‘AN ! الآن (And your night is your shadow — a fairy-tale piece of land to make our dreams) earlier this year and we fell completely for the album. Partly recorded in Beirut last year, it radiates and reflects its cultural diversity and social and political atmosphere. Euphoric and tumultuous, beautiful and urgent, enigmatic and emotive, their rich soundscapes also draw from their improvisational energy and genres aplenty, from post-rock and free-jazz to Arabic music and electronica. Today Frédéric and Stéphane tell us which three acts they’re most excited to see at the festival.
