Watch Sudan Archives’ video for new single ‘Water’

Sudan Archives popped up on our radar earlier this year, through the spectacular line-up for the upcoming Le Guess Who? Festival. Inspired by Sudanese fiddlers, the self-taught violinist and vocalist combines West African rhythms with electronic music and R&B. Earlier this summer, she released her debut self-titled EP through Stones Throw. On the back of it, Sudan Archives has recently shared the wonderful and enveloping single ‘Water’. The track is offered with a video featuring footage from a trip to Ghana where she taught music production to kids.

“Teaching the kids at the North Star School with The Taiwo Fund was a dream come true and the main reason we traveled to Ghana. I launched a three day music production workshop and kids easily adapted to electric drum kits because they are already skilled drummers at their school. I’m grateful that I had the opportunity to go and teach the skills I’ve learned and inspire the students to create with the tools that they already have.”

The video is directed by Eric Coleman. Watch it now.
