Soulsavers<\/a>, the outfit of Rich Machin and Ian Glover, have a new instrumental album on the way. Entitled Kubrick<\/em>, the album is inspired and named after the iconic director. \u201cLike a lot of people, I have phases of obsession, whether it\u2019s about albums, musicians or film directors\u201d, explained Machin. \u201cA while ago, I quite casually started revisiting some of Stanley Kubrick\u2019s films, and pretty soon I was watching them all. I found myself really relishing Kubrick\u2019s amazing attention to detail and how each film had it\u2019s own completely unique mood. I\u2019d wanted to make an instrumental record for ages\u2026 I found I could draw on these different moods as starting points for the music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kubrick was self-produced and recorded at several studios around the world and it arrives on December 4th via San Quentin. Ahead of it, Soulsavers have let loose ‘Clay’, the first cinematic and wonderful taster of the upcoming album. As with the other seven tracks on the album, which take their name from a different character from Kubrick’s films, ‘Clay’ is named after Johnny Clay from the 1956 film The Killing<\/em>.
