Acclaimed and genre-bending cellist and composer Lori Goldston<\/a> has been around the block for over 25 years, with stints in renown projects, including David Byrne, Earth, Nirvana, Mirah, R. Ring, Laura Viers, and The Wedding Present, as well as score work for operas, films, theatre, and dance productions. This October will see the release of High and Low<\/em>, her new solo album. Encompassing two sections, the \u201cHigh\u201d section is a series of solo improvised memorials for Goldston\u2019s friend and Canadian artist and musician Genevi\u00e8ve Elverum, and the other section features improvised duo performances with drummer Dan Sasaki.<\/p>\n

High and Low<\/em> is set for release on October 7th via SofaBurn<\/a> and ahead of it Goldston has shared the first riveting single ‘The Waves and What’s Under’. The track comes with an accompanying video directed by Clyde Petersen, who comments:<\/p>\n

\u201cLori Goldston and I convened on a secret island in the Salish Sea to create the music video. The Boatel, a private guest house for visitors, was constructed out of an old wooden boat, cut into pieces and hauled onto the shore to be reassembled in the forest. It is surrounded by Alder and Cedar trees, baby fawns, chipmunks and birds of all varieties who spend their days in the blackberry brambles, carving out nests and spots of shade to rest in while eating the tender leaves each spring brings.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
