Ingenious German multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer\u00a0Martyn Heyne<\/a> has announced the much anticipated follow-up to 2020’s Open Lines<\/em>. Entitled Eight Reflections in Darkness<\/em>, his new record of solo electric guitar compositions will see the light of day on April 14th through Tonal Institute \/ AWAL Sony<\/a>.
\nWith simplicity and honesty at the heart of his new compositions, Heyne chose to record the album in his studio with merely his guitar and a couple of amps, “leaving in the breaths, foot taps, and finger-picked sounds that come with a live performance”, as the press release describes. “In this form, Heyne taps into the music\u2019s intimacy, encouraging us to look inward as we listen”. Inspired by a series of videos of Picasso drawing on a glass pane, namely one of a bull drawing that was just an outline, Heyne “set out to make music that felt like a line drawing, sketching out the contours of the sound, but not coloring in every piece”.<\/p>\n
