Entitled <em>Blowout<\/em>, the album germinated during his stay in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica in 2021, where he was filming an episode of his travelog <em>Kirby\u2019s Gold with the Kawe Calypso Band<\/em>. Hermeto Pascoal\u2019s legendary performance of &#8216;M\u00fasica Da Lagoa&#8217; is cited as a key influence, and Kirby added he was also inspired by \u201cfailed utopias\u201d like the Heaven\u2019s Gate cult and Fyre Festival, and the myths that followed. He comments:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cI&#8217;m trying to use imagination in music to create my own myths, and keep things playful and funny and not too sanctimonious.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Blowout<\/em> arrives on\u00a0June 30th through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stonesthrow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stones Throw<\/a> but we can already hear the joyous and shimmering &#8216;Sun Goes Down&#8217;.
