Comprising Christian Garcia-Gaucher (vocals, guitar and synths), David Costenaro (drums), both based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and Val\u00e9rie Niederoest (vocals and guitar), based in Brussels, Belgium, the trio continues to evolve and expand their sound palette. On the upcoming <em>Faire \u00c7a<\/em>, Meril Wubslin travelled to London to record the album with Kwake Bass, known for his membership in Speakers Corner Quartet and collaborations with Kae Tempest, Tirzah, Mica Levi, amongst others. \u201cWhat unites us,\u201d the band said, \u201cis curiosity and the desire to seek and explore. If we continue to make albums and perform, there will always be evolution. Taking risks \u2013 that\u2019s what interests us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"il\">Sonically,<\/span> the album matches\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span> trio&#8217;s wider sense of scope and vision, tapping\u00a0<span class=\"il\">into<\/span> myriad influences, &#8220;stack[ing] up the intimacy of blues and folk, the experimentation of post-rock and 1960s minimalism, and the heady production values of dub and hip-hop&#8221;, as the press release describes. &#8220;Their appreciation for avant-garde composers such as Steve Reich, Glenn Branca and Terry Riley, plus folk music from Eastern Europe, North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa informs how the trio arrange rhythm and melody, and pushes them to greater heights on Faire \u00c7a.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ahead of the album&#8217;s release through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bongojoe.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bongo Joe Records<\/a>, lead single &#8216;Un Calme&#8217; provides an excellent glimpse of what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=2271256884\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=de270f\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/track=2338346060\/transparent=true\/\" seamless=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/merilwubslin.bandcamp.com\/album\/faire-a\">Faire \u00c7a de Meril Wubslin<\/a><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March 1st will see the release of Faire \u00c7a, the fourth album from Meril Wubslin, following 2021\u2019s Alors Quoi.
