Italian singer-songwriter and composer Chiara Civello<\/a> has joined forces with Italian producer and DJ Cristiano Crisci, aka Clap! Clap!<\/a> for a brand new collaborative project called CCCC. Bringing together Civello\u2019s rich songwriting and expressive vocals with Clap! Clap!\u2019s adventurous and rhythm-led production, the pair have found an intriguing common ground between their very different musical worlds. The collaboration began after Civello discovered Clap! Clap!\u2019s 2020 album Liquid Portraits<\/em> and was captivated by it. She reached out and the two began exchanging ideas, with Crisci sending instrumental sketches that Civello transformed into songs. Rather than imposing a fixed structure on the music, she allowed the melodies and arrangements to reveal themselves naturally. The result is a self-titled album set for release at the end of October through Quarter Moon Records<\/a>, Civello\u2019s new independent label.<\/p>\n Blending electronic production with more organic sounds, across the record the pair explore deep grooves, broken beat, house and R\u2019n\u2019B. The songs also draw on a rich mix of influences and places, connecting Africa, Sicily, Brazil and the Americas, and touching on themes of grief, renewal, ancestry and self-discovery.<\/p>\n We’ll have to wait until October 30th for CCCC<\/em> to be out but we can already hear \u2018New Dimension\u2019, a gorgeous slice of soulful broken beat pairing Civello\u2019s breezy vocals with Clap!
