Following the release of \u2018Fekete Szem \/ Black Eye<\/a>\u2019 earlier this summer, \u00c0b\u00e1se<\/a> has unveiled \u2018B\u00fasulni Nem Tudtam \/ Learning Sorrow\u2019, another new track exploring the rich musical heritage of his native Hungary. \u2018B\u00fasulni Nem Tudtam \/ Learning Sorrow\u2019 brings the Berlin-based Hungarian producer, composer and keyboardist together once again with folk singer Kacs\u00f3 Hanga and virtuoso cimbalom player Jen\u0151 Lisztes. The track is lifted from \u00c0b\u00e1se\u2019s forthcoming double album Nefelejcs<\/em>, which sees him delve deeper into his Hungarian roots as well as drawing on Eastern European avant-garde, folk, contemporary classical and Ethno-jazz alongside his beat-driven approach. Nefelejcs<\/em> takes its title from the Hungarian word for forget-me-not, which was also Bogn\u00e1r\u2019s late mother\u2019s favourite flower. The title can also mean \u201cdo not forget\u201d, adding another layer to an album that looks back towards his heritage and brings it into the present.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the new track, \u00c0b\u00e1se says:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really proud of the fusion of so many different elements coming together so organically. I wanted to create a musical bed for Hanga, where the Hungarian song can be presented in a universal setting, bringing her voice to all dance floors accross the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The collaboration also continues \u00c0b\u00e1se\u2019s work with Hanga, who is part of a new generation of Hungarian folk musicians bringing fresh energy to the tradition. She comments:<\/p>\n

\u201cI want people to know that our folk music IS cool. You can engage with it every day, and it\u2019s not something ancient, just for our grandparents or the countryside.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
