{"id":3380,"date":"2012-09-19T19:50:20","date_gmt":"2012-09-19T18:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/castthedice.org\/?p=3380"},"modified":"2016-01-10T21:11:27","modified_gmt":"2016-01-10T21:11:27","slug":"mi-gu-set-to-release-collection-of-tracks-from-previous-albums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/castthedice.org\/?p=3380","title":{"rendered":"Mi-Gu set to release collection of tracks from previous albums"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/castthedice.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/migu.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3381\" title=\"mi-gu - Choose The Lights\" src=\"https:\/\/castthedice.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/migu-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/castthedice.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/migu-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/castthedice.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/migu-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/castthedice.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/migu.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Tokyo based Yuko Araki is better known for being Cornelius&#8217; outstanding drummer, but she also keeps herself busy playing with Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, If By Yes,\u00a0 Brother&#8217;s Sister&#8217;s Daughter and her own brainchild project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.office-augusta.com\/araki\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mi-Gu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yuko formed Mi-Gu in 2003 and the project later expanded with the addition of guitarist\/producer\u00a0Hirotaka &#8220;Shimmy&#8221; Shimizu, also of Cornelius fame. <\/p>\n<p>Mi-Gu&#8217;s self-titled debut came out in 2003 via British label <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ochrerecords.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ochre Records<\/a>; followed by <em>from space<\/em> released in 2006 by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.office-augusta.com\/atsugua\/\" target=\"_blank\">Atsugua Records<\/a> in Japan and the most recent album\u00a0<em>pulling from above<\/em> came out in 2009 via Ryuichi Sakamoto&#8217;s label <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commmons.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Commons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">October 2nd will see Sean Lennon&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/chimeramusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chimera Music<\/a> release a collection of tracks from Mi-Gu&#8217;s three albums, entitled <em>Choose The Light<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mi-Gu blend skilfully and gracefully a variety of genres and to lure you into the forthcoming release,\u00a0 here&#8217;s a taste from each of the three magnificent albums. Firstly &#8216;Spider&#8217; lifted from the debut <em>migu<\/em>, followed by &#8216;Oshiro&#8217; from the somophore album <em>from space<\/em> and the title track from the third album <em>pulling from above<\/em>.
