Hailing from Toronto,\u00a0five-piece The Holy Gasp<\/a> describe themselves as “a damn-the-Man beatnik revival conga revolution, a boxcar and a jug of wine, a groove, daddy, and the farthest thing from a king sized bust”. Initially birthed by poet and composer Benjamin Hackman, The Holy Gasp turned into a quintet now also comprising Daveyoso, Sebastian Shinwell, Christopher Weatherstone and James McEleney.<\/p>\n

The Last Generation of Love<\/em> is the quintet’s debut album and we’re only a couple of weeks away from its release. As the quintet puts it,\u00a0 the album “re-contextualizes beatnik aesthetics for the modern listener, and makes a desperate cry for humanity, for change–for people to not only care, but to see that to give a shit is profound”. Recorded by Josh Korody (Beliefs, The Dirty Nil, Dilly Dally), The Last Generation of Love<\/em> is out on February 24th and it will be available digitally and also as a limited edition cassette via Arachnidiscs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Holy Gasp have recently unveiled a fittingly excellent and bonkers video for the new single ‘A Daily Affirmation’. It’s a jolly and contagious song and you’ll probably feel compelled to do anything good. Check it out below.
