Back in October, Konono N°1 announced they had a new album on the way and gave us a little teaser. More details have now emerged about the effort, which marks the Congolese collective’s first full-length album in six years, following 2010’s Assume Crash Position. Entitled Konono No° 1 Meets Batida, the forthcoming album was recorded in Lisbon in early 2015 with Angolan/Portuguese musician Batida aka Pedro Coquenão. The record also features guitarist Papa Juju, vocalist Selma Uamusse, and slam poet MC AF Diaphra and it’s due out on April 1st through Crammed Discs.
Ahead of the album’s release, Konono N°1 have shared the first taste of the album, the hot ‘Nlele Kalusimbiko’. Take a listen below.
