Bremer/McCoy, the Copenhagen based duo of pianist Morten McCoy and bassist Jonathan Bremer, have been developing their signature sound over the last four albums, using their custom built soundsystem. Formed in 2013 as a reggae group, they morphed into a jazz, dub and neo classical outfit crafting melodic, serene and immersive compositions and soundscapes infused with emotion.
This Autumn they will release their fifth album, Natten, an effort that has been in the works for the last couple of years and “is inspired by the cosmos, by the sunset and by the nordic woods”, as they put it. “We felt a greater freedom this time around because we now have a much deeper understanding and grounding in what we’re doing,” Bremer comments. “This allows us to venture further out than ever before, because we know that things typically fall into place.”
Along with the album news, Bremer/McCoy have let loose the first single, ‘Natten’, a track recorded straight to tape. “When it works for me,” explained McCoy, “it’s pure meditation, pure prayer. Pure gratitude for simply being, without all kinds of jibber-jabber filling my thoughts.”
Listen to ‘Natten’ below and grab the album when it’s out on October 29th through Luaka Bop.
