Oneohtrix Point Never unveils short film for ‘Sticky Drama’

Oneohtrix Point Never - Sticky Drama

Garden Of Delete, the new album from Oneohtrix Point Never, arrives in just over a week. Daniel Lopatin, the man behind the project, had already shared two cuts from the album, ‘I Bite Through It’ and ‘Mutant Standard’, and today he’s offering its lead single, ‘Sticky Drama’. It comes with an accompanying short film made by Jon Rafman and Lopatin himself, presented in two parts, ‘Sticky Drama’ (Prologue) and ‘Sticky Drama’ (Music Video). The effort, which features over 35 children in its cast, was originally commissioned by the Zabludowicz Collection in conjunction with Warp Records. “Inspired by the costumes, staging and extended improvised narratives of Live Action Role Play (LARP)”, says the press release, “the video reflects the vivid, often violent world of children’s imaginations and games, as well as extending both artists’ ongoing investigation into appropriation, the nature of memory and the horror of data loss.”.

In support of the album, Oneohtrix Point Never is about to embark on a world tour, taking a special live performance conceived with long-time collaborator Nate Boyce, to select cities. He’s performing in London at Village Underground this Sunday November 8th.

Now watch the video for ‘Sticky Drama’.

Garden of Delete is out on November 13th via Warp.

They have announced their debut album, Oscar Hocks, due in early 2016 via FANTASYmusic in Europe and Atlas Chair in America. With an overall darker and more mysterious tone than CocoRosie, Bianca “Coco” said this of her solo work:

“I often played the dark side of CocoRosie. And now I don’t have to worry about being too dark, too scary, too weird.”

The tour starts on November 6th at Iceland Airwaves and the last show will be in London on December 3rd at the ATP Pop-Up Venue.
In addition to the The C.i.A members, Bianca has also enlisted the help of performer Lærke Grøntved and scenographer Corentin JPM Leven doing light/video and stage design. Porno Thietor “often crosses over into territories of ritual, nightmare and fantasy”, describes the press release.

‘Poor Deal’ is being offered as the album’s first taster, a song that first started from “an untuned piano, a dusty typewriter and a pile of broken umbrellas”. Listen to it below and then watch a teaser trailer for the live show, including another new track, ‘Faded Like a Rose’.
