Listen to Buke and Gase & Rahrah Gabor’s second single ‘Pass Impasse’ off upcoming collaborative EP

Following A Record of…, the collaborative album with percussion ensemble So Percussion, New York based duo Buke and Gase have a new collaborative release on the way. This time the incredible and inventive duo of Arone Dyer and Aron Sanchez teamed up Newark, NJ based rapper Rahrah Gabor for a self-titled EP. “I feel like the main theme is found in how the project is structured and composed.”, Gabor explained. “Experimentation and collaboration are key in the construction of this project. Buke & Gase and I have had to embrace one another’s writing and performing styles and trust they would work well together.”

The EP arrives on February 11th via Brassland and they have recently unveiled the exciting and infectious second single ‘Pass Impasse’. Speaking about the single, Arone commented:

“This is an improv which we remixed to entice Rahrah Gabor with lyrics encouraging the listener to “bring new in,” because “life is brief, fill it up to the edge and keep on the move on.” I’m always asking myself if my cup is half full or half empty, and when I’m closer to empty I remind myself to take a deeper look at what I’m theoretically drinking, maybe add an ingredient or two, or just enjoy the simplicity of the life beverage.”

‘Pass Impasse’ comes with an accompanying video. Watch it below.

Buke and Gase and So Percussion announce collaborative album, A Record of…

Buke and Gase, the inventive duo of Arone Dyer and Aron Sanchez, are back with a new album following last year’s Scholars. Entitled A Record of… , the album is a collaboration with contemporary percussion ensemble So Percussion, and saw the two groups work together in a 300-year-old house in Hudson, NY. A Record of… is set for release on January 29th through Brassland and they have already let loose its opening track, ‘Diazepam’.” Dyer comments about it:

“Diazepam” is a deep dive into my psyche and you’ll find this cycling — a reminder not to look to others to keep my sanity or pose, and that sometimes being chemically altered is the only welcome thing that will break the spell of obsessive self-doubt. It can be read as a response to this very stressful year (or 4), or a reminder to hug yourself, which has always been a contrivation to me. “Hug myself?” …Yeah. The way you’d hug the person or animal or item you feel most protected by, and the most protection for. It can be a gentle, loving embrace to the ears and nothing more.”

Buke and Gase - Seam Esteem

We love Buke and Gase. So we’re psyched to know that the Brooklyn based inventive duo of Arone Dyer and Aron Sanchez have shared a brand new song called ‘Seam Esteem’. The track follows their #MondayMissions project, which saw the pair getting together for an 8-hour session every day for one week each month, where they improvised, recorded new music and continued their exploratory and learning process with new instruments and software. ‘Seam Esteem’ is one of the sketches Buke and Gase chose to rework into a full song. Give it a listen now.

Buke and Gase offer title track from upcoming new album

Brooklyn based inventive outfit Buke and Gase, the duo of Arone Dyer and Aron Sanchez, have shared the title track from their upcoming somophore album. General Dome will see the light of day on January 29th via Brassland.

Buke and Gase, formerly Buke and Gass, named themselves after their own handmade instruments, the “buke”, a self-modified baritone ukulele and the “gase”, a guitar-bass hybrid created by Aron. Other than their core eponymous instruments, Arone and Aron use an array of homemade gear including ankle-played bells, toe-bourine and a bass drum with an integral snare drum and tambourine.

Whilst we eagerly wait for the album to drop, here’s the fierce and exhilarating title track ‘General Dome’.
