Jerusalem In My Heart have always dazzled us with their powerful and entrancing compositions, exploring and merging traditional Arabic music with electronic influences. Founded over a decade ago by prodigious and adventurous musician, composer and producer-in-demand Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, they are currently a performative audio-visual duo with Charles-André Coderre creating live projections on 16mm film. Ahead of the forthcoming 11th edition of Le Guess Who?, for which they are one of the guest co-curators, we are thrilled and honoured to unveil this special mixtape lovingly assembled by Radwan. Serving as a window into their extraordinary curation, it features music from each of the unique artists they have invited to perform. Now it's time to listen.

We're very excited to have Oiseaux-Tempête, the French band spearheaded by Frédéric D. Oberland and Stéphane Pigneul, behind the wheel of this month's mixtape. The band's music, strangely beautiful and beautifully strange, explores and experiments with many varied genres. To shed some light on their influences, here's their thrilling mix, about which they had this to say:

Oiseaux-Tempête release video for new track ‘Bab Sharqi’

Oiseaux-Tempete - Bab Sharqi videoIf you haven’t yet lent your ears to AL-‘AN ! الآن (And your night is your shadow — a fairy-tale piece of land to make our dreams), the new album from Oiseaux-Tempête, you are missing out. Released earlier this month, the record is the third and closing part of a trilogy preceded by 2013’s eponymous album and 2015’s ÜTOPIYA?. In support of the release, the French band are hitting the road today for a tour across France and Belgium.

Coinciding with it, Oiseaux-Tempête have unveiled a video for a new single from the album, the eerily enigmatic and entrancing ‘Bab Sharqi’, directed by Human Pattern. Check it out below.

We’re less than a month away from the release of AL-‘AN ! الآن (And your night is your shadow — a fairy-tale piece of land to make our dreams), the new album from French outfit Oiseaux-Tempête. Following their previously shared singles, the poignant and compelling ‘Carnaval feat Mondkopf’ and more recently the wonderful and ethereal ‘I Don’t Know, What Or Why (Mish Aaref Eish W Leish)’ featuring Tamer Abu Ghazaleh, one hardly needs further convincing that their album is one not to be missed. In anticipation of the album’s release, Oiseaux-Tempête are offering a new track, ‘Through The Speech Of Stars’. Clocking in at nearly eighteen minutes, ‘Through The Speech Of Stars’ is an absolute opus of a song, with guest contributions from G.W. Sok (The Ex, Cannibales & Vahinés) and Gareth Davis and featuring a poem by Mahmoud Darwich.

Last week we heard the poignant and compelling ‘Carnaval feat Mondkopf’, the first single lifted from Oiseaux-Tempête‘s upcoming album AL-‘AN ! الآن (And your night is your shadow — a fairy-tale piece of land to make our dreams). The French outfit are enticing us further with another single, the wonderful and ethereal ‘I Don’t Know, What Or Why (Mish Aaref Eish W Leish)’ featuring Palestinian musician Tamer Abu Ghazaleh (Alif). Oiseaux-Tempête to close trilogy with new album AL-‘AN !

Oiseaux-Tempête - AL-'AN !French outfit Oiseaux-Tempête, the core duo of Frédéric D. Oberland and Stéphane Pigneul, are set to release their new album AL-‘AN ! الآن (And your night is your shadow — a fairy-tale piece of land to make our dreams) next month. AL-‘AN ! , which means Now! in Arabic, is the third and last part of a trilogy that includes their 2013 self-titled album and 2015’s ÜTOPIYA?. The album was recorded last year between Beirut and France, with a slew of guests.
With this record, the pair “have achieved a far more complex work, richer in texture, the intertwining of acoustic elements with electronica, roaming and shaking the foundations of this almost labyrinthian personal opus of an album”, describes the press release. “As ever, the group realising both the immersive and also the total physicality on the record.”

AL-‘AN ! الآن (And your night is your shadow — a fairy-tale piece of land to make our dreams) is out on March 31st April 14th via Sub Rosa and Oiseaux-Tempête are offering a taste from it with the poignant and compelling ‘Carnaval feat Mondkopf’. Listen to it now.
