Red Snapper announce Wonky Bikes EP

Red Snapper - Wonky Bikes

Last year Red Snapper released the outstanding Hyena, which was one of our Album Picks of 2014. So we’re excited to know they are following it up with a new EP called Wonky Bikes. A mind-blowing live version of the main track, originally lifted from Hyena, is offered in the EP. As the press release describes, the band injected the live cut “with a seething dose of voodoo funk that perfectly encapsulates the raw, live Red Snapper sound.”.
The EP also features a remix by the band’s drummer Rich Thair of his favourite album track, ‘Traffic’ and a remix by Saint Petersburg based DJ and producer Kito Jempere of ‘Blue Chest’. Grab the EP when it drops on April 27th via Lo Recordings and now get dancing with the live version of ‘Wonky Bikes’.

Brian – Uncanny Opera

Brian - "These Are the Things We Do"

Brian. I know a lot of Brians. A tough name to Google. “Brian.”  Ha.  “Brian Bandcamp.” Nope. “Brian Bandcamp New York.” You have to know what you’re looking for. This Brian, the elusive Brian, is best found with a link:

Brian.

Brian’s 2014 album, Brian, is an emotional journey through the uncanny valley: mesmerizing synthesizer soundscapes and passionate computer generated vocals. It feels both synthetic, and eerily sincere.

Here is a music video for the song ‘These Are the Things We Do’, animated by Brian himself.

Kuba Kapsa announces Vantdraught 10 Vol. 1

Kuba Kapsa - Vantdraught

Vantdraught, a series of projects of modern classical music, is the latest effort Polish pianist and composer Kuba Kapsa has been working on. Comes April, Kapsa will release the first part of it, Vantdraught 10 Vol.1, via Denovali. Drawing inspiration from classical minimalists and early 20th century composers, Vantdraught 10 was written for ten classical instruments – 4 violins, 2 violas, cello, vibraphone, marimba and piano, and recorded at the concert studios of Radio Gdansk with musicians from Polish ensembles like Neoquartet and Kwartludium.

“Vibraphone, piano and marimba are written in a “push-pull” combination, being the rhythmical base for every piece,”, explains the press release, “while strings are instantly “questioning and answering” each other whether being supportive to the rhythm or used for the presentation of themes.”.

Kapsa is offering a first taste ahead of the album’s release, the magically vibrant and absorving ‘No. 4’. Here it is.
