Red Snapper are back with new album, drop first single

Lo and behold! For a new album from British ground-breaking and outstanding band Red Snapper has been announced. Hyena was inspired by the score they composed for the 1973 classic Senegalese film Touki Bouki, directed by Djibril Diop Mambety and restored recently by Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Foundation.
Ahead of Hyena‘s release on September 1st via Lo Recordings, Red Snapper got us salivating with the first funky and infectious single, ‘Card Trick’. The single, which has its own The Card Trick EP, came out last Monday and it also features remixes by Auntie Flo, Tici Taci and Rich Thair.

Adult Jazz announce debut album release

adut Jazz - the bandWe have been following Adult Jazz since we first saw them opening for Juana Molina last year. We immediately fell in love with the voice scales of lead singer Harry Burgess and all the band’s magical melodies. Now we are super excited to see their first album Gist Is coming out through Spare Thought on 4th August. They have also revealed their newest song which tickles the ears with its beautiful composition and intrigues the mind with imaginary explorations. Enjoy ‘Spook’ below.

Snowy Plover release debut EP Saturna

Last year we were introduced to the magical and fun sounds of Snowy Plover, the project of multi-instrumentalist Lane Barrington (The Ocean Floor) and Daphne Jane Faison.
The Portland, Oregon based pair released yesterday their debut EP, Saturna. We had already heard the jubilant ‘Frozen Dessert Adventure’, one of the tracks now also featured in the EP, along with five new luscious ones, all “carefully wrapped in cloud fluff and containing hidden coves of animal friendships, dreamy landscapes, and horizons blooming with adventure”, as they put it themselves.

People Get Ready announce somophore album and share title track

People Get Ready - Physiques

The brilliant eponymous debut album from Brooklyn’s People Get Ready came out at the end of 2012. The quartet have just announced the release of its follow-up, Physiques.
According to the press release, Physiques “began as a collection of deliberately incomplete sketches that they developed over three months of improvisation, revision and accidental magic”. Former band member Ian Chang (Matthew Dear, Body Language) was recruited for drumming duties on Physiques, which also features guest collaborations from Steve Marion aka Delicate Steve, Brian Betancourt (Hospitality, Here We Go Magic) and Ryan Seaton (Callers). The album was produced by Deerhoof’s drummer Greg Saunier at the Clocktower Gallery and is slated for a June 24th release via Brassland.
