Christian Kriegeskotte releases full-length album Plex-Emitter

Christian Kriegeskotte - Plex-Emitter

Plex-Emitter comes from the hands of a young man almost obsessed by alchemy, mysticism, philosophy and science history.  The Brooklyn based composer and conductor Christian Kriegeskotte has a vast number of different works under his belt, including contributions to the scores of Family Guy, The Simpsons and The War of the Worlds, to name but a few. Amongst his most recent and current projects is his ongoing piano cycle for pianist Eric Clark and also Plex-Emitter, a series of experimental electronic and analogue recordings. All the live samples come from different New York noises and were recorded on his mobile phone. You can listen to the full album here and get a taste of one of the tracks, ‘Plex-Emitter No. 3 (Mantra)’ below. Enjoy!

Hauschka unveils video for ‘Agdam’

Hauschka - Agdam

Hauschka‘s monumental album Abandoned City came out to wide acclaim last March. The German composer, songwriter and experimental musician is now offering a fittingly wonderful and cinematic video for the track, ‘Agdam’, lifted from the same album.
As we had previously mentioned, the tracks on Abandoned City were named after actual name deserted cities. ‘Agdam’ is named after a city in Azerbaijan that was deserted and destroyed during the Nagorno-Karabakh War in 1993.
Here’s the video directed by Jordan Bruner and Lee Gingold.

Abandoned City is out now via City Slang and Temporary Residence.

Watch the video for Man Forever & So Percussion’s ‘The Clear Realization’

Man Forever - The Clear Realization

We’re huge fans of John Colpitts aka Kid Millions, the genius Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, composer and writer behind drum ensemble Man Forever, also one of the founding members and drummer of Oneida, amongst many other projects and collaborations. His latest release sees him collaborating with contemporary percussion ensemble So Percussion.
After performing together at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, they hit the studio to record Ryonen, a two-piece collaboration featuring ‘The Clear Realization’ and the title track.
As the press release puts it, “the two pieces on Ryonen are rhythmically seductive and instantly exciting while retaining the experimental legacy that Man Forever has cultivated over several albums and relentless touring”.

If you haven’t yet been seduced by Ryonen, here’s the stunning video that accompanies ‘The Clear Realization’, directed by Gabe DeLoach. Watch it now and grab the record via Thrill Jockey.
