Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and now based in between Switzerland, Barcelona and Buenos Aires, Violeta García is an extremely talented cellist, composer, improviser and curator. Having first studied classical and popular music on the cello, before delving into contemporary composition and improvisation, she has more recently developed a heavy interest in open sound spaces. Working across many contexts and art forms, including improvisation, music composition, dance, film and visual art, she has collaborated with dozens of contemporary artists and musicians from different genres and has performed at numerous festivals and venues around the world, as a soloist, a collaborator and a member of experimental rock project Blanco Teta. With García's third solo album, IN / OUT, a beautifully haunting, gloomy and emotive record, arriving this week, we could not be more excited to have her put together this enthralling mix journeying through the influences at play in her own music, including a couple of gems from herself.
