Earlier this year, Brussels-based quintet Ciao Kennedy released their debut album, Solarium, marking the fruition of two years’ worth of musical experimentation. Now the outfit of childhood friends Samuel du Fontbaré (guitar), Léopold de San (guitar), Louis Gaillard (keyboards), Gaspard de Bellefroid (bass) and Simon Boonen (drums) have unleashed a video to accompany ‘Foire du Midi’, lifted from the album. As the press release describes, ‘Foire du Midi’ “captures that hazy, late-summer nostalgia of Brussels’ iconic funfair — somewhere between bright lights, cotton candy melancholy and soft synth warmth”. Solarium is out now through Sdban Ultra

Last month, Ciao Kennedy announced the release of their debut album, Solarium, out on March 21st through Sdban Ultra. After pricking our ears with the mesmeric, infectious and immediately enjoyable ‘Nothing‘, the Brussels-based quintet are back with new single ‘Limbo Rainbow’. Entrancing and enigmatic, the track went through many changes before getting to its final form. As the guitarist explained, “it’s like a rough stone we polished, almost by accident”. We’re always excited about new releases coming out through Sdban Records, and there’s plenty of good reasons for that in their rich catalogue. Brussels-based quintet Ciao Kennedy is one of the latest bands to join the label and prick up our ears. Hailing from the Namur region, childhood friends Samuel du Fontbaré (guitar), Léopold de San (guitar), Louis Gaillard (keyboards), Gaspard de Bellefroid (bass) and Simon Boonen (drums), formed the band in 2018, releasing three EP’s in the following years, as well as being featured on the compilation Lefto presents Jazz Cats Vol. 3 last spring.

Mesmeric, infectious and immediately enjoyable, ‘Nothing’ distils the group’s essence, “mixing modern electronics with nostalgic post-rock guitars, thriving on hypnotic rhythms and lush textures, crafting and layering instruments into soundscapes”.
