There’s beautiful new music on the horizon from Will Samson. The wonderfully talented British artist has announced a brand new album, Sings Again, set for release on May 22nd through Human Chorus. Following a period spent exploring instrumental forms, the upcoming Sings Again finds Samson returning to vocal-led songwriting. His voice, which he always treated just like another instrument within his ambient, electronic and acoustic worlds, comes back into focus again. Sings Again emerged from a period of profound personal change and recalibration. In April 2024, Samson took part in an ayahuasca ceremony, a powerful and challenging experience where he heard the words: “Will Samson is dead.” The visions that followed included encounters with his late father, memories from early childhood, and being taken to his own funeral. Speaking about it, he says:

“In the months afterwards, I truly did feel as though something significant in me had died…and then through psychotherapy I was able to process the experience and also learn how to move forward with an emphasis on creating from a new internal space”

Lead single ‘Signs Of Life’ was the first piece to emerge, written during a period of depression that left him feeling disconnected from music altogether. Samson explains:

“When it came to the lyrics, I simply wrote, as honestly as I could, how I was feeling at that moment. A part of me died. So, I waited and watched for signs of life to come.”

Beautiful and beguiling, ‘Signs Of Life’ offers a striking glimpse of what Samson will be throwing at us. Take a listen below.
