German-born, Brooklyn-based saxophonist, composer and singer Charlotte Greve is gearing up to release Waterbodies, her tenth album as a bandleader and debut one under her own name. A bewildering album, Waterbodies is an explosion of many different styles and sounds, bringing together the many different sides of her musical life.

Following the bright and captivating ‘Membranes‘, she has now shared a second track, ‘Own Lap’, an 11-minute orchestral opus filled with wonder, vividly encapsulating the spectrum of Greve’s ideas and influences coming into play. Written in 2019, ‘Own Lap’ is dedicated to her late grandmother and two close friends who had recently experienced hardship, all “strong people who had the ability and strength to keep their head up and keep going”, as she describes.
