We’ve been eagerly wating for the release of Charlotte Greve‘s Waterbodies, her tenth album as a bandleader and debut full-length under her own name. One of the most intriguing and beguiling records of the year, Waterbodies is a burst of unbridled creativity, weaving together the various threads of Greve’s musical world. Following the bright and captivating ‘Membranes‘, and ‘Own Lap’, an 11-minute orchestral opus filled with wonder, the German-born, Brooklyn-based saxophonist, composer and singer has shared a third shimmering single, ‘Lighter Blue’. A close friend paired the colour with her character some twenty years ago, and it has endured as her spirit color. She comments:

“The silent crater / volcano represents a period of disconnection from making art and feeling out of touch with it. Tiptoeing around , feeling lost and ungrounded because something essential is missing. In that state, doubt about all things arises, making space for insecurity to flourish. The moment music arrives again, suddenly everything makes sense, the path is lit and you can just walk on it. The forever torch, showing you the way to live your life, gifting you melodies that carry you through the day with purpose.”
