Portico Quartet’s third eponymous album out next week
London-based Portico Quartet are an astounding outfit drawing inspiration from jazz / post-jazz, electronic, contemporary classical, ambient and dance music.
The foursome comprising Duncan Bellamy on drums and electronics, Jack Wyllie on saxophones and electronics, Milo Fitzpatrick on bass and electronics and Keir Vine on hang and keyboards will release their third self-titled and self-produced new album next week. Portico Quartet is out on January 30th in Europe and a day later in North America via Real World Records. Pre-order is available here.
Mike Flynn of Real World Records said the forthcoming album “finds the band expanding on their trademark sound of eerie hang, ethereal sax, earthy bass and drums via an organic use of electronics and effects diving headlong into an epic, cinematic sound palette”. Portico Quartet is an “album of compelling musical journeys exploring both inner and outer spaces. Abstract, virtual, visceral, horizon-less landscapes of sound, melody and rhythm; unlike anything you’ve ever heard.” he adds.
The first taste of the eponymous album shared a while back is the beautiful, dark and hypnotic track ‘Ruin’. You can download it free here and watch the video below.
The band is now running a remix competition for the track ‘Sleepless,’ also included in the new album. They are inviting fans to remix the track and upload it on their soundcloud page until February 6th. You can download the stems from ‘Sleepless’ and check out the prizes here.
‘Sleepless’ features the haunting and calming vocals of Swedish guest collaborator Cornelia. Enjoy it.
