Mixtape #109

We’re sliding into December with the perfect accompaniment for this season, with a warm and gentle mixtape put together by Brussels-based British musician Will Samson. With a penchant for old tape machines and analogue gear, and a falsetto voice of gold, Samson crafts profoundly beautiful and delicate compositions, exploring and navigating the seas of ambient, folk, experimental and electronic music. With a magical and heartfelt new album, Paralanguage, arriving in just a few days, we’re over the moon he compiled this wonderful mix of songs from artists that have inspired him. So dive in and enjoy!

Mixtape #73

This month's guest mixtape comes from the excellent, eccentric and boisterous Perhaps Contraption. The nine piece art-rock brass marching band is known for its high energy shows, blending a wide variety of musical genres like post-minimalism, jazz, contemporary classical, and avant-rock. We're happy to confirm that the music selection sent to us by artistic director and piccolo/flute player Christo Squier is just as eclectic, fun and frantic.

Devendra Banhart releases new video for track from latest album Mala

Devendra_Banart_Mala_cover

Just yesterday melancholy master Devendra Banhart honoured us with a new masterpiece video for ‘Fur Hildegard von Bingen’, a track featured on his most recent Nonesuch released album Mala. Visually clean frames paired with great cinematography skills set the background for a short and powerful song inspired by famous medieval philosopher and composer Saint Hildegard von Bingen. It’s thought provoking. And below is the video, directed by Isaiah Seret, with a small add-on, the still fresh remix of Devendra’s track ‘Golden Girls’ done by Hauschka – very good stuff indeed!
