Mark Pritchard & Thom Yorke announce debut collaborative album, Tall Tales

Tall Tales is the newly announced collaborative album that pairs Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and electronic polyglot Mark Pritchard. Germinated gradually across nearly ten years, it marks their first record as a duo. “Mark sent me a large file of MP3s of ideas during lockdown,” Yorke said in a statement. He continues:

“There were so many great ones, I knew straight away that I had to drop what I was doing. It felt very much that I had not been anywhere like this before — both as soon as I put my headphones on and started trying to find the vocals, words and sounds, but also, as it progressed, watching Jonathan respond so freely and spontaneously with all his video and artwork ideas.

It was mental, and I feel lucky to have been involved. I am looking forward to this finally coming out. Tall Tales is very important to me. I hope people get it, and get to hear it!”

Ahead of the album’s release on May 9th through Warp, Yorke and Pritchard have shared a new single called ‘This Conversation is Missing Your Voice’. The track comes with an accompanying video made by Jonathan Zawada. Watch it below.

Mixtape #138

Staggeringly talented British composer and pianist Tom Rogerson has been a longtime favourite of ours. A prolific classically trained musician and gifted improviser as well as a key player in the London experimental/improv scene, he has worked in multiple musical formations for many years, including Three Trapped Tigers. In 2017 Rogerson released Finding Shore, a collaboration with Brian Eno which made it to our Album Picks of that year and followed it up earlier this year with his first solo album, Retreat to Bliss. A peaceful, masterful and mesmerizing album, written and recorded in his native Suffolk, it reflects a series of life changes. Needless to say, we’re over the moon to have him curating this month’s utterly sublime mixtape which opens a window onto the influences at play in his new record.
