Mixtape #65

Derbyshire based trio Haiku Salut conquered our ears with their sweet and quirky melodies and arrangements, crafted mostly using accordions, pianos, glockenspiels and ukuleles. Made up of Gemma and Sophie Barkerwood and Louise Croft, the band's two albums, Tricolore and Etch and Etch Deep, display their inventiveness and opens a window onto their unique and magical musical world, part folk, part classical and tinged with electronic influences. So we're thrilled to bits to start September with a marvellous mix of tracks picked by the band!

Tunng set to release fifth album Turbine

Tunng

British pop folk experimentalists Tunng are set to release their fifth full-length album, Turbine, on June 17h via Full Time Hobby.

Founded by Sam Genders and Mike Lindsay, the sextet has been evolving and growing throughout their 10-year existence.

“It’s been a twisted adventure to this point, one that has taken us all over the world, an amazing journey,” said Lindsay. “There’s a lot happened in this band in the last couple of years. Children born, people moving into different places, falling in love, skipping country, broadening horizons…  maybe this is a coming-of-age record!”

Recorded in Dorset, Turbine saw all six members getting involved with each stage of the recording process for the first time.
Tunng have already shared two colourful and charming cuts from the album, ‘So Far From Here’ and ‘The Village’. Listen to both below.
