Mixtape #154

We love Don Kapot, the explosive and exhilarating Brussels-based trio of Giotis Damianidis (bass), Viktor Perdieus (baritone saxophone) and Jakob Warmenbol (drums), all three key players in the vibrant Belgian jazz scene. They have crushed it again this year, spiraling skywards with their fourth album, I Love Tempo, an intoxicating opus blending elements of free jazz, afrobeat, and krautrock, fizzing with both groove and virtuosity and driven by an unabashed punk spirit. What a better way to go out this year than with this rad mix Don Kapot put together for us. Press play and get into their headspace!

An unrelentingly inventive musician, Perri writes, records, produces, mixes, remixes and masters not only his own work but also other artists. Under the moniker Off World, he just released the first of three volumes collecting unheard collaborative gems with other musicians and producers. Perri's vast and stylistically diverse work encapsulates genres like post-rock, dub, ambient, pop, jazz, folk and dance music among others. So here it is, in all its shining glory, the guest mixtape Sandro Perri created for us. Let it light up your day!

Mixtape #74

We're huge fans of London based collective The Heliocentrics, whose groovy and cosmic tunes move through genres as diverse as jazz, funk, hip-hop and psychedelia. And we're stoked to have the band's mastermind and mightily relentless drummer Malcolm Catto put together this month's mixtape. Catto, who has played, produced and recorded with more celebrated artists than we could possibly list here, is one of the most versatile and funkiest drummers out there. So get into his headspace with this utterly rad mix of tunes!

Mixtape #50

To celebrate our fiftieth mixtape, we've turned to a band whose shows are like crazy birthday parties: The Octopus Project. The quartet, based in Austin, Texas, won us over a long time ago with their uniquely fun live shows and their exquisite, diverse and intricate compositions. We're very chuffed to present the splendid selection of tunes they've mixed for us. So loosen your tie, let down your hair and let's celebrate!
