We usually get excited with all the releases that Constellation puts outs and recent news of Sandro Perri‘s forthcoming collaborative project has got us all the more excited. Under the moniker Off World, Perri brings to life a collection of his collaborative work with other producers, including Lorenz Peter (Corpusse, Processor), Drew Brown (Lower Dens, Blonde Redhead, Beck), Susumu Mukai (Zongamin), M J Silver (Mickey Moonlight) and Craig Dunsmuir (Glissandro 70, Kanada 70), and musicians Eric Chenaux and Jesse Zubot.
Set to be released in three volumes, the first one, Off World 1, drops on September 30th. The label describes it as “alien electronics played humanly, with real-world accents throughout”.
We had already heard the incredible first single ‘Wonder Farm’, and to entice us further, Perri has unveiled another track from Off World 1 called ‘Extraction’.
Jason Sharp shares new track from upcoming debut album A Boat Upon Its Blood
‘A Boat Upon Its Blood (Pt. 3)’, the tremendous title track from Jason Sharp’s upcoming debut album, emerged last month and we were instantly taken by the immersive beauty of his sounds. We weren’t previously familiar with the Canadian composer, improviser and reedist but he’s no stranger to the Montréal experimental/improv scene and has for long collaborated and played with a slew of talented musicians.
A Boat Upon Its Blood is inspired by Robert Creely’s poem ‘The Heart’, and its song titles are also named after the poem. The album “impels deep listening and demands to be taken in as a whole”, describes the press release. We’ll need to wait until September 30th when it drops via Constellation to embrace it fully. But luckily, we can already hear another staggering track from the album, ‘A Boat Upon Its Blood (Pt. 1)’.
Eluvium announces new album False Readings On and shares first single
There’s wonderful news from Matthew Cooper aka Eluvium whose last solo offering, the double album Nightmare Ending, came out in 2013. The Portland based ambient composer has announced its follow-up, entitled False Readings On. The album is “inspired by themes of cognitive dissonance in modern society”, as the label describes. “By its conclusion it had become a mirror rather than a magnifying glass, evolving into an hour-long meditation on self-doubt, anxiety, and separation from one’s self.”
Ahead of the album’s release on September 2nd via Temporary Residence, Eluvium is also offering the first taste from it in the form of the magical ‘Fugue State’.
