Luke Abbott set to release somophore album this summer

Luke Abbott - Wysing Forest

Luke Abbott has recently announced the follow-up to his 2010 debut album Holkham Drones. The upcoming album is called Wysing Forest, taking its name from the Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridgeshire. This is where Abbott recorded the effort, which was initially the fruition of a residency project lasting six weeks. Wysing Forest is mostly made up of live recordings, as Abbott explained. “Some were recorded at a performance at Wysing in front of a very small audience and some were recorded in a temporary studio I had setup during my residency”. With an emphasis on improvisation, he added that “a lot of what has ended up on the record was originally recorded as first-takes or sketches of ideas.”

‘Amphis’, an epic 12-minute track, is the first taste to be let loose. Listen to it now and watch out for the release of Wysing Forest on June 23rd via Border Community

I Have A Tribe shares title track from upcoming debut EP

I Have A Tribe – Yellow Raincoats

Dublin native Patrick O’Laoghaire is the intriguing man behind I Have A Tribe. The project has been brewing for a few years, with O’Laoghaire gaining the confidence he needed to unveil it after touring and recording with Slow Skies. He explains:

“It started when I got more brave. It was always there, this want or need to try and make something out of my imagination and let it travel off into the world. I wanted to see if I could make something real using the colours that were in my head”.

I Have A Tribe has announced the release of his debut EP Yellow Raincoats, and the title track, produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Anna Calvi), is now streaming and seducing our ears. The EP arrives on May 9th in Ireland and May 12th in the UK via Faction Records

Liars’ new album, Mess, came out last week and we must admit, we are addicted to it. The album’s frantic and excellent lead single, ‘Mess on a Mission’, has just been complimented with a weirdly apocalyptic and funny video. Luis Cervéro directs. Watch it now.

Mess is out now via Mute.

EuroMusic Contest 2014 in full swing!

EuroMusic Contest 2014

For a few weeks now and until April 10th, bands from 40 European countries can share their music to a wide audience of music lovers through The Euromusic Contest. Adapted to the new technologies and the digital music industry, and described as “Eurovision 2.0”, the Euromusic Contest aims at promoting new and emerging bands from the independent European music scene.

The event, which was first held in 2011 and received submissions from over 28 different countries, will see that number swell to 40 in its 2014 edition. Bands can still register until April 10th. Online voting will be open until the end of April to elect 40 pre-finalists, one from each country. In May, a jury made up of all kind of people passionate about music, from TV presenters to bedroom bloggers and everything in between, will pick 10 finalists. We’re pretty chuffed to be part of the jury and can’t wait to listen to the 40 tracks that make it to the top. The following month, the lucky 10 will get to perform at the contest’s final, a concert streamed live from Paris.

Head over to euromusiccontest.com for more info and to vote or even enter your band in the competition!

Hoping to hear you soon,
