Jherek Bischoff to release 7″ single ahead of debut album

After several years working on his album, Seattle based songwriter, producer and composer Jherek Bischoff is set to release his debut solo album entitled Composed.

The nine orchestral pieces in Composed feature an array of illustrious guests.
“This record is the most exciting project I have ever worked on due largely to the amazing collaborators I have had the chance to work with” said Jherek Bischoff about his forthcoming album. “If you told me 5 years ago that I would be composing orchestral music and collaborating with my heroes I would have thought you were nuts!”
David Byrne, Zac Pennington (Parenthetical Girls), Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Soko, Caetano Veloso, Mirah, Carla Bozulich (Evangelista, Geraldine Fibbers), Craig Wedren (Shudder To Think), Dawn McCarthy and Nels Cline (Wilco) are some of the heroes he’s referring to.

Composed will be released on May 28th in Europe via The Leaf Label and June 5th in North America via Brassland.

Ahead of it, and to celebrate Record Store Day, the first cut from the album, ‘Young & Lovely’, will hit stores tomorrow as a limited edition 7″ single. ‘Young & Lovely’ features Zac Pennington and French singer/actor Soko and you can grab it free on Jherek’s bandcamp. ‘Eyes’ is the second collaborative track on the 7″ featuring David Byrne.

Man Forever drops video for ‘Surface Patterns’ (excerpt)

Man Forever, the project of Oneida’s drummer Kid Millions, first saw the light in 2010. Kid Millions founded the project to perform his experimental drum compositions. As the label’s blurb puts it, Kid Millions’ “vehicle for exploring the outer limits of drum performance, was created to overwhelm, to investigate the nuances that bloom in the midst of repetitive music, and to act as a pure sound experience.”

Man Forever’s highly anticipated third new album, Pansophical Cataract, will hit stores on May 14th via Thrill Jockey. The album can be pre-ordered here, and the first 500 orders will be pressed in a limited edition orange vinyl.

As previously posted, Pansophical Cataract features two tracks, ‘Surface Patterns’ and ‘Ur Eternity’, and both were trimmed  from 30 and 40-minute live versions to around 18-minute pieces.
Man Forever has just unveiled a pretty cool video for an excerpt from ‘Surface Patterns’ made by SR Palm. It’s a feast for the ears and the eyes. Check it out.
