Mothlite unveils new video for ‘Something In The Sky’

Mothlite, the brainchild project of London based multi-instrumentalist Daniel O’Sullivan, will release his somophore album Dark Age on May 14th via Kscope. It follows his debut album The Flex Of Reverie released in 2008.

O’Sullivan described the upcoming album as “Dark megalomania, contradictions and paradoxes, and general bleakness”.

Second single ‘Zebras’ is free to download here and now Mothlite unveiled a video for  ‘Something In The Sky’, another track lifted previously from Dark Age. Watch it below.

Pevin Kinel offers second single and visuals from forthcoming full-length

Back in January, London based multi-instrumentalist Pevin Kinel announced the release of a new full-length album entitled Syntactic Sugars. It follows his 2010 Of Week Constitution and is due out on June 5th.

The extraordinary one-man-orchestra has offered us a further glimpse into his forthcoming album with a brand new song, ‘Fake ppl’, and an alluring video for it made by himself (and Orson, Sidney, Wim, Woody, Luis and some other people who may not exist).

Pevin plays all the instruments (guitar, keyboard, clarinet, voices, set of keys) in ‘Fake PPL’, a track that carries a unique charm.

The video surfaced the web this morning and it’s a goodie. It features footage from films by “some of the best directors in the history of cinema” as Pevin puts it and it aims to “retrace the steps of the default user picture of myspace and facebook as they grow older and start hitting the bottle”.

Here’s the video for ‘Fake ppl’.

Gargle drop Glow In The Gloom

Jun Minowa and Satoshi Ikeda are the Japanese duo behind experimental post-rock outfit Gargle, helped by Kei Sunayama on doublebass and Yoko Ikeda on violins.

Glow In The Gloom is their brand new album released a couple of days ago via Fluttery Records. You can stream/buy the record on Gargle’s bandcamp.

“They offer instrumental music combining mixed emotions as if which is trying to express a gleam of light in the darkness.” says the label’s blurb. “The sounds are sometimes cinematic and dynamic, and the sensitive and pathetic melodies are running through the sounds as if looking for literally a glow in the gloom.”

‘Presage’ is the beautiful opening track off Glow In The Gloom and there’s some subtle visuals accompanying it. Enjoy.

A slice of Zammuto’s eponymous debut album

Zammuto is the brainchild project of Vermont based Nick Zammuto (of The Books fame) with the addition of Sean Dixon on drums, Gene Back on electric guitar and Mikey Zammuto on bass.
Zammuto’s self-titled debut album came out this week on Temporary Residence. Hit the link to order it and stream the album via their soundcloud page.

The album “is progressive and forward-looking, intense and driven, with hugely varied rhythms and melodies”, according to the press release. The “radical and varied sound of Zammuto leaps out of speakers with a searing directness.”

To promote the album, Zammuto started a US tour yesterday opening for Explosions In The Sky. For more info and tickets, go here.

Check out below a track off the album called ‘The Shape of Things To Come’. There’s also a video for the same track embedded below, courtesy of Stereogum.
