Pinkunoizu are a 4-piece collective based in Copenhagen and Berlin. The foursome comprising Jeppe Brix (guitar), Andreas Pallisgaard (guitar, vocals), Jakob Falgren (guitar, bass, keyboards) and Jaleh Negari (drums) are about to drop their self-recorded debut full-length album entitled Free Time!.

volcano! set release date for new album and offer title track

Chicago experimental rockers volcano! have announced the release of their third album entitled Piñata. It follows the critically acclaimed 2008’s Paperwork.

Speaking about the tracks in the new album, volcano!’s guitarist and frontman Aaron With said “they’re mainly based on weird fantasies. Our goal was to tell stories with strange but universal sentiments.”

Piñata is due out on June 12th via The Leaf Label.

The trio first single and title track is now available to download free via their bandcamp. volcano! also promised an accompanying video for the single that will represent what it combines: “heavy drums, dance-y synthesizers, and scratchy guitars with lyrical content concerned with spider/bee/candy-filled-piñatas. ” We’ll be on the lookout for the video.

First taste from Extra Life’s forthcoming album Dream Seeds

Brooklyn based art rockers Extra Life are set to release their third full-length album Dream Seeds.

Now a trio, Extra Life were formed in 2007 by multi-instrumentalist Charlie Looker, former member of Zs and Dirty Projectors.

Dream Seeds drops on April 10th in the US via Northern Spy and on May 7th in Europe and Japan via Africantape. Just hit the links to pre-order it.

The 7-track album deals “entirely with the twin themes of dreams and children. In a lyrical left turn away from the morbid sexuality and black humor of Made Flesh, these songs look to the subconscious in search of innocence, morality and meaning” says the label’s blurb. “According to principal songwriter and elementary school teacher Charlie Looker, the lyrics began with a consecutive series of harrowing dreams involving children, all interconnected by recurring symbols. Claiming to be in some way spiritually reborn, Looker penned the songs while mining these dreams’ buried pasts and even watching in awe as some of their prophesies unfolded in all-too-real life. Alternately brutal and tender, haunted by ghosts of both the dead and the unborn, the songs of Dream Seeds express the violent yet redemptive collision of the Real and Psychic Worlds and an archaic belief in the divine truth of dreams.”

‘Righteous Seed’ is the first single off Dream Seeds and here it is.

Halo Halo to re-release debut EP

London based inventive sinawi pop threesome Halo Halo first came under my radar after seeing them playing live a few weeks back.

Named after a Filipino icecream, Halo Halo consist of Rachel (Banjo / Vocals), Jack (Drums /vocals) and Gill (every other instrument).

Their debut 7″ Manananggal came out through Savoury Days last summer and it’s being re-released on April 24th via Portland’s M’Lady Records. It includes the joyful b-side ‘Sunshine Kim’. Hit the label link to pre-order it.

As the label puts it, ‘Manananggal’ and ‘Sunshine Kim’ are “two wild numbers that will ricochet around yr noggin for the rest of the year.” Listen to them below.


Kid A teases new album BLCKRSECHLL

Kid A is the nom de guerre of Virginia-born producer and songwriter Anni T who draws inspiration from jazz, electronic minimalism, post punk and Shibuya-kei.

Last year Kid A released a self-produced imaginary Japanese soundtrack entitled PPPoney OST. Head over to her bandcamp to stream/download it.

Kid A announced the release of her full-length debut album BLCKRSECHLL (Black Rose Chill), due out later in the year.  The album, completely written and produced by herself, was recorded in Paris with French producer Agoria.

Whilst we wait for a taster from BLCKRSECHLL, enjoy ‘BB Bleu’, a track off PPPoney OST. Kid A described the track as “an addictively smooth electronic, Gainsbourgesque tale about love and regret.”
