Just over a month ago, we got introduced to Ombre, the new collaborative outfit of Julianna Barwick and Helado Negro.
They had released ‘Cara Falsa’, the gorgeous and hypnotic first taste off their debut album, Believe You Me.
‘Cara Falsa’, led by Barwick’s ethereal vocals, is now followed by a dazzling new single, ‘Vistate’, where Helado Negro takes the lead on the vocals.
We are in for a treat with Ombre’s debut album and there’s only a few days to go till it drops on August 21st via Asthmatic Kitty.
Here’s ‘Vistate’.
Centipede Hz, Animal Collective‘s tenth full-length album, is due out early next month and in anticipation, they have just premiered a video for the first single ‘Today’s Supernatural’. The track was unveiled last week on their new weekly radio show, Animal Collective Radio, and now it gets complimented with a trippy colourful video.
This is the first time since 2007’s Strawberry Jam that Animal Collective regroup as a four piece with original members Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist and Deakin back in the band.
It’s not surprising that Animal Collective started their own radio show, as “part of the inspiration for Centipede Hz included the band’s memories of growing up listening to station announcements and commercials on the radio and imagining the after life of radio signals from the past, forgotten transmissions that are now lost in space and broadcasting music from other planets for other life forms”, as the press released described. “This is reflected in the sound of Centipede Hz, which features the white noise of radio interference and buried frequencies overlaid with the band’s peerless melodic sensibilities and compositional methods.”
Centipede Hz will it stores on September 3rd in the UK and a day later in the US via Domino. Ahead of it, Animal Collective will stream the album in its entirety on their radio show this Sunday August 19th.
Now enjoy the video for ‘Today’s Supernatural’. Danny Perez directs.
I’ve been eagerly waiting for the release of Get Well Soon‘s third album The Scarlet Beast O’ Seven Heads – La Bestia Scarlatta Con Sette Teste, which drops on August 27th via City Slang, as previously mentioned.
Konstantin Gropper, the talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist behind Get Well Soon, has just released an epic and berserk 7-minute video for ‘Roland, I Feel You’, the new single lifted from his forthcoming album.
‘Roland, I Feel You’ is “a not-so-serious ode written by Konstantin in honour of a certain internationally-known German director of apocalyptic movies”, explained the label. “The song gave life to a symphony of cinematic tributes in this breathtaking video, which contains more references than a coffee table book on cinema.”
As previously posted, self-proclaimed musical genius Chilly Gonzales is set to release Solo Piano II, his new album of solo piano compositions, on August 28th via Arts & Crafts.
A new beautiful piano ballad off the forthcoming album has just been unveiled and you can see him playing it here, part of his ‘Pianovision’ video series.
Listen to ‘Kenaston’ below.
Flying Lotus‘ highly anticipated fourth full-length album, Until the Quiet Comes, arrives this fall. The album is due out on October 1st in the UK and October 2nd in the US via Warp.
Until the Quiet Comes features stellar guest collaborations with Thom Yorke, Erykah Badu, Jonny Greenwood, Thundercat, Niki Randa and Laura Darlington.
‘See Thru to U’ is the first cut lifted from Until the Quiet Comes and it features the hypnotic vocals of Erykah Badu. Listen to it below.
Listening Bones is the new upcoming album by eccentric brass marching band Perhaps Contraption. The follow up to their 2010’s debut Sludge & Tripe is slated for a November 3rd release.
Formed originally in Bristol back in 2004 as an avant-rock quartet, Perhaps Contraption moved to London and turned into a frantic and relentless eight piece roving band.
The press release says that “an exuberant and subversive knees-up is guaranteed wherever they roam”. It only takes one listen to be convinced.
Whilst we wait for Listening Bones to drop, head over to their bandcamp to hear a few snippets off it. Now get ready to move your limbs to the lead single ‘Cousin / Grandma’.
