Bristol trio BEAK> have announced the release of a deluxe limited edition fabric boxset of their recently released somophore album >>.
The boxset will be on sale at the band’s upcoming live shows and a small number of copies is now available at the label’s website.
The upcoming boxset features ten previously unreleased tracks, recorded during the >> sessions. BEAK> have unveiled one of these unreleased tracks, ‘0898’, and you can listen to it below.
Django Django were quick to conquer audiences all over the world. The quartet’s eponymous debut album came out in Europe in January via Because Music and having just been signed to Ribbon Music, the album will be reissued in the US. A digital release will be available on August 14th and the LP and CD release is due out on September 25th, coinciding with a North American tour.
There’s more good news coming from the world of this Scottish foursome. Last week they announced the release of a new single, ‘Hail Bop’, and also dropped its B-side ‘Bail Hop’.
Now Django Django have just premiered a futuristic video for ‘Hail Bop’, directed by Daniel Swan. Check it out below.
Deerhoof announced today the release of a new studio album entitled Breakup Song.
The band’s drummer and producer Greg Saunier described it as “a sensational record of Cuban-flavored party-noise-energy music.”
Breakup Song will be available on LP, CD and digitally and is due out on September 3rd in Europe via ATP Recordings and a day later in the US via Polyvinyl. The album will also be released on a special tape edition, limited to 250 hand-numbered copies on white tapes, via Joyful Noise.
You can now preview the album in their website. Deerhoof are teasing Breakup Song with a jukebox widget called Jingletron, where you can listen to snippets from the songs in the album. All you have to do is insert a token into the Jingletron, and it will play snippets off three tracks, chosen randomly. And yes, you can keep on using the tokens and listen to more new tracks.

This fall will see the release of Meshell Ndegeocello‘s tenth studio album Pour Une Âme Souveraine (“For a sovereign soul”), a dedication to Nina Simone.
In the words of Meshell, the forthcoming album is “a dedication to Nina Simone and her incredible influence but it is also a dedication to the single, interior life we all experience.”
Pour Une Âme souveraine sees Meshell reworking some of the iconic tracks written by and for Nina Simone.
“The aim was not to re-create the existing versions, because we felt strongly that the only way to honor Nina would be for Meshell to find her own voice in the material.” explained Chris Bruce, who co-produced the album with Meshell. “Nina was always exploring and experimenting, and quite cathartic. If you are familiar with her work at all you will frequently find that there exist multiple versions of the same song. So we wanted to tap into that same creative spirit and make the songs our own.”
The album drops on October 9th via Naïve Records. Ahead of it, Meshell has unleashed ‘Be My Husband’, the first taste off Pour Une Âme souveraine . ‘Be My Husband’, written originally by Nina Simone’s former husband and manager Andrew Stroud, features vocal guest Valerie June. Listen to it now.
The much anticipated second album by Edinburgh quartet Hidden Orchestra will arrive this fall. The upcoming album, entitled Archipelago, is due out on October 1st via Tru Thoughts.
According to the label, Archipelago sees lead member Joe Acheson “exploring and developing many of the themes from their debut while introducing new guest players, instruments and found sounds”.
Ahead of the new album, Hidden Orchestra will release the double A-side single ‘Vorka’ / ‘Spoken’ on September 10th.

Instrumental psych post rockers Maserati have announced the release of a new album entitled Maserati VII.
The new effort, due out on October 2nd via Temporary Residence, is the band’s first album since the tragic death of drummer Jerry Fuchs.
The band has unveiled ‘The Eliminator’, the first taste lifted from the upcoming Maserati VII. Listen to it beneath and check out the album trailer.
