Next week Holy Fuck are dropping Bird Brains, their new four-track EP. We have been excitingly waiting to hear more since the EP’s teaser video emerged last month. And now we can rejoice for they have shared a full new cut, the frantic and infectious title track. It comes with a fitting video directed by Allison Johnston. Watch it now.

There’s a new album on the way from synth star and composer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, following last year’s Ears. Entitled The Kid, the record charts the different stages of life. Offered as a double album, The Kid “chronicles four defining cognitive and emotional stages of the human lifespan across four sides.”
‘An Intention’, the first single from the album, is taken from the first side, which depicts the first stage of life. It “takes us through the confused astonishment of a newborn, unaware of itself, existing in an unwitting nirvana”. Self-taught guitarist and singer-songwriter Mdou Moctar, based in Agadez, Niger, is at the forefront of a new generation of musicians, forging a new path for Tuareg music. This August will see him release a new full-length album called Sousoume Tamachek. Mdou, an extraordinary musician, played every single instrument in the album, as well as backup vocals, rhythm guitar, and percussion.

The amazingly groovy and psychedelic ‘Vitamin C’, taken from Can‘s album Ege Bamyasi, has been paired with an accompanying video 45 years on from its original release. ‘Vitamin C’ is one of the tracks featured in The Singles, a collection of all of Can’s singles, which came out last month as a triple release to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The video was created by Josh Graham at Suspended In Light and you can watch it below.

The Claypool Lennon Delirium put out a special EP, Lime and Limpid Green, earlier this year for Record Store Day. The good news is the EP is being re-released as a limited-edition in less than a month. The effort saw the duo of Les Claypool and Sean Lennon reinterpret four classic tracks, including Pink Floyd’s ‘Astronomy Domine’, King Crimson’s ‘The Court Of The Crimson King’ and The Who’s ‘Boris The Spider’. ‘Satori’, the 1971 track from Japanese band Flower Travellin’ Band is also one of the tracks featured in the EP. The Claypool Lennon Delirium are offering it with a psychedelic video directed by Koichiro Tsujikawa. Three years on from the release of Mess, Liars have a new album on the way, entitled TFCF and set for release on August 25th via Mute. TFCF, which stands for Theme From Crying Fountain, sees Liars re-emerge as the solo project of singer and guitarist Angus Andrew, following the amicable departure of Aaron Hemphill. Recorded in Andrew’s native Australia, where he had moved back to to live in a remote part, the album is informed by his new surrounding and life style. He explains:
“Suddenly, the tides of the ocean became the most important thing to me, because I live right on the ocean now, and to get my boat out in the morning to get groceries on the mainland I’ve got to know when the tide is coming in, or I’ll get stuck. Very basic things like that suddenly became top priority in my life. And the effect was interesting. The last record, Mess, was made in LA, and had very tight corners and clean edges – it was sharp, programmed, organised. It sounds a lot like living in a city. But now, everything started to fall off-time.”

To celebrate the release of TFCF, Liars will hit the road this Summer and Autumn with a new touring band. With several live dates in Europe and North America, the tour kicks off at London’s VISIONS Festival on August 5th and includes a show at Utrecht’s Le Guess Who? Festival in November.
