Sexton Creeps announce new album and drop first single

Sexton Creeps - Jazz

After releasing their third album, Alex Hotel, in 2013, Groningen, Netherlands based band Sexton Creeps spent the rest of the year reinventing themselves and working on a follow-up effort. Their new album, Lesbian Skies, has just been announced and is slated for a March 7th release via Geertruida.
Drawing influences from pop to psychedelia to rock and blues, for the new album Sexton Creeps ventured into exploring the boundaries of pop music, as the press release explains. “This all resulted in something more solidly structured than before, but without having to compromise the edges of their ‘own’ Sexton Creepish sound”.

The mighty and hypnotic track ‘Jazz’ is the first single lifted from the upcoming Lesbian Skies. The track comes with an accompanying stop motion video, made by the band’s own organ player Martine Rademakers. Here it is.

Ought - More Than Any Other Day

We are always raving about Constellation and the artists and bands signed to it. Continuing to enrich its catalogue, the label has recently announced the addition of Montreal based post-punk quartet Ought to their roster. More details have now emerged and Ought’s debut full-length album, More Than Any Other Day, will see the light of day on April 29th. The album was recorded with engineer Radwan Moumneh (Suuns, Matana Roberts, Jerusalem In My Heart) at Montreal’s Hotel2Tango.

Nolita View drop Live in Line EP

Nolita View - Fall In

London based outfit Nolita View have a new EP out called Live in Line and they’ve let loose one of the cuts off it, ‘Fall In’. I wasn’t familiar with this band previously but I dug it straight away and I think you will too. Named after a song by The National, Nolita View are made up of Mike Clarke on bass, Will Jacks on vocals and guitar, Alex Smyth on guitar and Tom Northeast on drums.

Sisyphus share new cut from forthcoming eponymous debut album

Sisyphus

Sisyphus, the collaborative project project of Sufjan Stevens, Serengeti and Son Lux, are releasing a self-titled debut album in just a month. The effort is partly inspired by the art of visual artist Jim Hodges, and was commissioned by the Walker Art Center and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s Liquid Music series in Minneapolis/Saint Paul, as we had already mentioned.
They’ve hit us first with ‘Calm It Down’, and just last week got us even more excited with the second mind-blowing single ‘Alcohol’. Sisyphus are doing it again and have shared another incredible track from the album called ‘Rhythm of Devotion’. This makes Sisyphus one of my most anticipated releases of 2014. The album drops on March 18th via Asthmatic Kitty and Joyful Noise Recordings, and pre-order is now available.

Yann Tiersen details upcoming album, and announces live dates

Yann Tiersen - ∞ (Infinity) - Prologue II

Last October we got the first taste of Yann Tiersen‘s new work in the form of the dreamy cut ‘Janet’, taken from a soundtrack he scored. The French composer had previously announced the release of a new album, and more details have now emerged. ∞ (Infinity), the follow-up to 2011′s Skyline, will see the light of day on May 19th via Mute. Recorded between between Paris, Ouessant and Iceland, ∞ (Infinity) saw Tiersen collaborating with native language speakers in some of the album tracks sung and spoken in Breton, Faroese and Icelandic.
∞ (Infinity) will be debuted live in a special sold out performance at the ICA in London on May 14th. In support of the album, Tiersen has just announced a set of live dates in New York’s The Highline on May 31st, London’s Royal Festival Hall on September 26th, and Paris’ Olympia on October 27th.
