Details emerge for Bear in Heaven’s new album

Bear in HeavenApril 3rd will see the release of Bear in Heaven’s third full length album titled I Love You, It’s Cool. The album was produced by David Wrench and it will be co-released by Hometapes and Dead Oceans.
To promote the album, Bear in Heaven have announced a US tour starting this spring.

Head over to Bear in Heaven’s website to stream I Love You, It’s Cool. This is not a regular stream, it’s slowed down by 400.000% so that the album will be streamed once in its entirety over three months. The album has now been streaming for a couple of days but do not worry if you have you missed it, there’s over 2000 hours to go (until April 3rd) and the first vocals haven’t yet kicked in.

The Magnetic Fields’ new album out in March

Magnetic Fields - Love at the Bottom of the SeaThe Magnetic Fields have announced the release of their 10th full-length album titled Love at the Bottom of the Sea. The album will be out on March 5th in the UK via Domino and a day later in the US via Merge Records. The album will be available digitally, in CD and vinyl and it can be pre-ordered now through both labels.
The album was recorded by frontman Stephen Merritt and usual collaborators Claudia Gonson, Sam Davol, John Woo, Shirley Simms, Johny Blood and Daniel Handler in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

To coincide with the release, The Magnetic Fields will tour North America and Europe. You can check all dates and other info here.

Stephen Merritt said that Love at the Bottom of the Sea will see the band return to their “signature mix of synth and acoustic sounds”.
Whilst we impatiently wait for a taster for this album, here’s ‘Absolutely Cuckoo’ from the group’s last synth inclusive three-volume concept album 69 Love Songs released in 1999.

Radiohead dropping two unreleased tracks next Monday

RadioheadRadiohead announced today the digital release of ‘The Daily Mail’ and ‘Staircase’ next Monday December 19th. These two unreleased tracks were recorded earlier this year when Radiohead performed and broadcasted The King of Limbs as part of From the Basement sessions.
The live studio performance of King of Limbs: From the Basement can now be pre-ordered on Radiohead’s website. A DVD/ Blu-Ray is set to be released in the UK on January 23rd and in the US on January 31st.
This release will also include an unreleased performance of ‘Supercollider’ and a 32-page book featuring photographs by Steve Keros.

Koudlam’s intoxicating new video

Paris-based electro composer Koudlam released Alcoholic Hymns EP earlier this year (June 1st) via Pan European Recording.
The video for the title track dropped last Thursday with directing credits from Jamie Harley, who previously directed another 2 videos for Koudlam. For ‘Alcoholic Hymns’ the director used footage from the 1962 documentary “Mondo Cane”.

Django Django set debut album release

2012 already promises to be a tremendous year for tasty releases.

London via Edinburgh 4 piece outfit Django Django announced the release of their self-titled debut album. Django Django is out on January 30th via Because Music. The quartet, consisting of Dave Maclean (drums), Bunny Nerd (vocals, guitar), Tommy Grace (keys) and Jimmy Dixon (bass), will release the single ‘Default’ a week before on January 23rd also via Because Music. Django Django will tour the UK in February, details are yet to be confirmed.

Matthew Dear’s new EP and new LP unveiled

Matthew Dear has announced the follow up to the much acclaimed 2010’s Black City. The new album will be released sometime early 2012 and it’s titled Beams. Preceding the album, Matthew Dear is dropping a 4 track EP on January 17th via Ghostly International. Headcage features vocals from The Drum’s Jonathan Pierce. The title track was produced by Van River and the Subliminal Kid and you can download here.
