AU’s brand new song ahead of Both Lights release

Multi-instrumentalist Luke Wyland and drummer Dana Valatka are the duo behind the Portland, Oregon based outfit AU.

The pair is dropping their third full-length album titled Both Lights in April via Hometapes (US) and  The Leaf Label (UK). Ahead of the album, AU are releasing a 7″ record limited to 500 copies, featuring the single ‘Solid Gold’ and other vocal collaborators and saxophonist Colin Stetson. Mwahaha’s debut album is no evil joke

4-piece psychedelic pop rockers Mwahaha hail from Oakland, California. The band comprising Ross Peacock, brothers Nathan and Cyrus Tilton and James Murphy released their self-titled debut album yesterday (December 6th) on their own imprint Mwahaha Music.

Mwahaha, recorded and mixed by Eli Crews (Deerhoof, tUnE-YarDs), is heavy on vintage synths and drum machines. tUnE-YarDs’ Merrill Garbus teamed up with the foursome in ‘Love’, where she co-sings with Ross Peacock.

The last track on the album, ‘Bathynomus Gigantes’, is an epic 11 minute trippy number.

Little Girls craft Cults

Little Girls Cults EPLittle Girls is the project of Toronto multi instrumentalist Josh McIntyre.
September 6th saw the release of Cults EP via Hand Drawn Dracula. Josh wrote and recorded the 6-track EP alone but he brought in a band to play it live. The solo project turned into a quartet and a full length album from Little Girls as a band is due out sometime in 2012.

Henry Sansom and James Mejia directed the video for ‘White Night’, the first track from Cults.

Mark Lanegan Band to release Blues Funeral in February

Mark Lanegan Band is set to come back with a new album titled Blues Funeral. The album will be released on February 6th in Europe and a day later in North America via 4AD.

The vocalist/songwriter has been on a hiatus since the release of Bubblegum in 2004.

Blues Funeral was recorded in Hollywood by Alain Johannes and it features guest appearances from Josh Homme, Jack Irons and Greg Dulli.

The album artwork and tracklisting was unveiled today as well as the opening track ‘Gravedigger’s Song’. The track can be listened to or downloaded below.

Woman’s Hour Debut Single Out Today

Woman's Hour
Hailing from Kendal and now based in London, Woman’s Hour are a 4 piece outfit formed in 2010. The band comprises siblings Fiona and William Burgess, Nicolas Graves and Josh Hunnisett.

The quartet’s debut single is released today via Dirty Bingo Records on a limited 7″ vinyl edition. It features ‘Jenni’ and ‘Human’, both recorded by Richard Formby, the producer of Wild Beasts.

Theme Park on the rise

London foursome Theme Park are a band to be reckoned with in 2012 with their tropical indie dance infected melodies and dazzling vocals. They formed earlier this year by twin brothers Miles and Marcus Haughton and their 2 close friends Louis Bhose and Oscar Manthorpe.

The band recently signed to Transgressive Records for the release of their debut album coming sometime next year.

Their upcoming single ‘Milk’ is out on December 12th on LuvLuvLuv Records and you can pre order it here.
