Charlie Hunter Trio announce debut album Let The Bells Ring On

Charlie Hunter trio - Let The Bells Ring On

American guitar virtuoso and composer Charlie Hunter, known for his versatility and affinity with the 7 and 8-string guitar, has announced the release of a new album marking his debut as trio with the addition of Curtis Fowlkes and Bobby Previte. The three have worked together for several years but hadn’t yet recorded an album together. Let The Bells Ring On, described as “gritty, greasy, and downright celebratory”, drops on June 9th via Hunter’s own label, Charlie Hunter Music.
Following Hunter’s main duo with drummer Scott Amendola, he wanted to explore his textural possibilities further. “Conceptually, I’ve been doing a duo thing with Scott that I love, but I wanted to have that third voice,” said Hunter. “I wanted somebody with a vibe who understands free improv and Al Green and Frank Sinatra and Sam Cooke. I wanted someone who can sing on their horn. I needed Curtis.”

‘Those People’ is the first excellent taste to emerge from Let The Bells Ring On. Listen to it below.
