The Oscillation share first new track from forthcoming third album

The Oscillation - From Tomorrow

From Tomorrow, the upcoming third album from psych krautrockers The Oscillation, arrives later this month via Hands in the Dark / All Time Low.
Here’s how the press release describes the effort:

From Tomorrow is an attempt to find some kind of new mental and spiritual zones, away from the psychological effects of the modern urban landscape, and the curious emptiness of the digital social world that we are forced to inhabit.
The introversion of these bleak and unsettling conditions are reflected back as music with all the ambiguous emotions of hope, despair, aggression, indolence and narcoleptic bliss.
These are the preconditions for the sonic world presented on “From Tomorrow”. This is music that on one side has been chewed by the teeth of insanity and spat out into a strange landscape, whilst the other is basking in the warmth of a mysterious inner sun.

The Oscillation have previously unveiled a couple of album teasers but now we are getting a full taste of ‘No Place To Go’, one of the tracks off From Tomorrow ahead of its release on September 30th. The track comes with fittingly added visuals, made by the bands’ own Julian Hand. Check it out below.

Joshua Idehen’s new band Hugh unveil debut track

Hugh

New stuff from Joshua Idehen is always good news. The London based singer and spoken word artist first appeared on our radar with his electro brass trio Benin City, but prior to this project and concurrently, the man has his fingers in many other pies. The latest one comes in the shape of a quartet and goes by the name of Hugh, also comprising producer Andy Highmore, singer Holly Bestic and guitarist Martin Kolarides.

‘Not Fair Too Far’ is the first taste to emerge from Hugh and leaves us highly anticipating a follow-up. Listen to the track below.

The Meets tease upcoming album with first single ‘Even When The Time Comes’

The Meets - It Happens Outside

The Meets, the Johnstown, Pennsylvania based ensemble directed and produced by Brandon Locher, have announced the release of a new full-length album entitled It Happens Outside.
The ensemble comprises over twenty musicians playing and sampling acoustic and electronic instruments over an electronically created sound collage, as the press release explains.
“80% of the sounds on the album are organic, taken from field-recordings that I made”, said Locher. “A drum circle that happened in the streets, recording friends playing orchestral instruments, etc, to build this created ensemble with everyone being credited.”
Mastered by Nick Zammuto, It Happens Outside will see the light of day on October 1st via My Idea of Fun. The effort will be available on vinyl and digitally, and can be pre-ordered now.
Ahead of the release, The Meets are enticing us with the first excellent single “Even When The Time Comes”. Listen to it below.

Sons of Kemet unveil video for new track ahead of debut album

Sons of Kemet - Burn

Burn, the highly anticipated debut album from London born, Barbados bred Shabaka Hutchings’s project Sons of Kemet arrives in just a week. To help bring his project to life, the prodigious clarinettist, saxophonist and composer enlisted some of London’s most talented musicians – Tom Skinner and Seb Rochford on drums and Oren Marshall on tuba.
Due out on September 9th via Naim Jazz Records, Burn encapsulates Shabaka’s myriad of influences and his own heritage, blending elements of jazz, Caribbean folk music and African Diasporan history.
“I thought none of the music I’m playing had a Caribbean accent, so I wanted to have that influence,” said Hutchings. “I wanted it to be that deeper thing that links into the African Diaspora but isn’t clichéd, where you hear it and think this is that nice happy music from the islands.”

Sons of Kemet have recently premiered a video for the fierce and hypnotic ‘Inner Babylon’, offering a tantalizing glimpse at what might be one of our favourite albums of the year. The video was directed by Czlowiek Kamera, watch it now.
