Callers & Delicate Steve set to release joint 7″ next week

Callers & Delicate Steve

New York’s Callers (Don Godwin, Sara Lucas and Ryan Seaton) and New Jersey’s Delicate Steve (Steve Marion / Luaka Bop Records) got together to record the infectious ‘Further Out’ and ‘Perfect Pairs’.
The collaborative 7″ featuring these two tracks is due out on February 7th via Western Vinyl and you can pre-order it here.

According to the press release, “Further Out” is a disjointed narrative about hotels and their occupants, left to tie up loose ends as life rockets past them, while “Perfect Pairs” explores the difficulties of maintaining relationships within relationships within relationships.”

Here’s what Delicate Steve said about the collaboration:

“I met Sara through some mutual friends at a Deerhoof concert last year. Soon after that I checked out her band (on myspace!!) and was really into it. I sent her an idea I had for a song while on tour, then we met for a minute during SXSW, saw each other’s bands, and talked about making a song when we were both home from tour. Next we met up at Michael Azerrad’s “Our Band Could Be Your Life” concert in NY where our bands were both playing. I had an awesome time in the mosh pit with Ryan. A week or two later we started recording “Perfect Pairs” together with Don Godwin behind the board. Shortly after that, we made “Further Out” collaborating back and forth in our home studios.”

‘Further Out’ is utterly amazing and addictive,  I’ve been listening to it over and over again.
Here it is.

Nedry - Violaceae single artwork

A week later their somophore album In a Dim Light hits stores via Monotreme Records.

As previously mentioned, Nedry offered ‘Post Six’ and ‘Float’, two tracks off In a Dim Light, back in December.

The digital download of ‘Violacea’ includes a new edit of the the track and two remixes by Polinski and Gazelle Town.
Both the single and the album can be pre-ordered here.

The trio unveiled today the official video for ‘Violaceae’ made by Dan Tassell.
Here’s what he said about the video:

“The original idea was to create a video that explored a dream or a detachment from reality, a self contained world that could be informed by the atmosphere of the track. From an early stage we decided to create something quite stripped back to allow Ayu’s lyrics to take centre stage. Shooting in a studio allowed maximum control over the light and shadow and to explore Ayu’s performance at macro level picking up on subtle facial gestures and movements. The black and white format allowed us to have some fun exploring the relationship between light and dark to reflect the haunting undertone of the track and lyrics. Several animated sequences were used to locate Ayu within a self-contained ‘dreamworld’ in which she escapes from her imprisonment in a cocoon or shroud of darkness as the track progresses.”
